September's DPHH will be on the 8th, the second Friday of the month (no, not on labor weekend - it's the last official weekend of the summer! go away for the weekend!!). Time will be 5pm.

How to get there:

take A,C,J,M,Z,2, or 3 train to Fulton-Nassau-Broadway. Find an exit to Fulton Street. Be sure to walk due East on Fulton til you hit the cobblestones under the FDR and straight on to the pier 17 where the schooner is.. If you pass Broadway, you're going in the wrong direction.

pick a bar for DPHH (September)

Hello all -

We're now into the last month of summer and evenings are very pleasant. Let's take advantage of New York's harbours.. I checked out Pier 17 in South Street Seaport area on foot and the views are great. The folks are a mix of tourisits (mostly) and NYCers. I checked out two places:


Harbour Lights

on third floor inside Pier 17 mall. Prices are around $25

It's a bit pricey but is very nice - you can eat and drink outside and enjoy a view of three bridges, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg. And watch ships sail through. There's plenty of wine, a seafood bar and I think the menu is new American. Click on the link to see the food menu. Looks yummy.

The cafe offers a variety of European menu items

Seaport Cafe has no website link far as I can find. I found a blurb condensing info. It's right on the deck with a view of a schooner docked in with a couple other ships. Great view of downtown NYC draped behind the ship masts.
